Integrated Access Floors

1.2 Standards

General

Integrated access floor shall comply with all relevant standards particularly AS 1170, AS 1530.3, AS 1728, AS 2834, AS 3084, TS 009, ISO 11801.

Stability

Stability of installation shall be maintained by use of six coarse pitch bugle head screws securing deck panel to the base. The base shall be bedded to the slab by using a high-build styrene butadiene rubber adhesive. The adhesive shall be applied to each pillar base.

Access for maintenance

Maintenance of system is generally not required.

Dimensional tolerances of installations

Maximum deviation from true floor grid.

The maximum deviation from true floor grid shall be no greater than + or - 3mm.

Fire rating

Testing for Building Code of Australia compliance in accordance AS 1530.3.


2 Quality

2.1 Inspection

Give sufficient notice so that the following may be inspected

Hold points

Slab finish to be inspected to ensure acceptability for installation of integrated ducted flooring.

Prototype to be inspected prior to continuation.

After module installation and prior to surface covering.

2.3 Prototypes

General

Description

A prototype of the integrated access floor system shall be installed on site. Area will be no less than 3.6 metres square.

Location

The prototype shall form part of the installation.

Components

Type

The components shall comprise of a base, deck and fixings as laid out in items 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3.

3 Components

3.1 Deck

Description

The deck shall measure 600 x 600 x 22 mm thickness and be of no less than a premium grade particle board (C4 grade waterproof and anti-fungal).

The deck is to be of non-metallic and non-conductive material.

3.2 Base

Description

The base shall be polypropylene co-polymer material.

It will incorporate 3 ducted cableways to cater for both power and telecommunications.

Cableways shall be manufactured such that cable separation integrity is maintained at all times, utilising a two level transverse and longitudinal grid.

The base is to be of non-metallic and non-conductive material.

3.3 Assembled Module

Description

The module comprises of a load bearing deck panel, screw fastened to an injection moulded base to form a pre-fabricated tile with tongue and groove interlock.

3.4 Accessories

Ramps

Slope

Shall be a minimum of 1:8.

Load

Loading of ramps shall match those of the general floor area.

Services

The following services shall be capable of installation within the integrated access flooring system;

  • Electrical outlets
  • Data outlets
  • Telephone outlets
  • Combined services boxes
  • Cable access grommets

4 Finishes

4.1 Finishes

Decks

Deck finish shall be as specified but generally will comprise of carpet tiles or loose laid vinyl tiles.

If required adhesive should be a pressure sensitive glue.

Bases

Shall be injection moulded polypropylene

Subfloor surface treatment

Seal to prevent moisture and dust ingress to sub-floor if required.


5 Execution

5.1 Installation

Protection

provide temporary protection from surface damage and concentrated loads, during installation of integrated access flooring system.

5.2 System Description

Types and grades

Deck

Description

6 Completion

6.1 Completion

Spares

Surface coverings shall be 5% of installation.
Deck shall be 2% of installation.

Making good

Make good all damaged modules.

Cleaning

Clean floor before delivery of items, which it supports.


Clauses for Specification

  • Each module shall be 600 x 600 x 78 mm high.
  • Modules shall be interlocked by a tongue and groove system incorporated within the assembly.
  • Modules shall be of a non-metallic material.
  • Each module shall comprise an injection - moulded polypropylene base 600 x 600 x 56 mm high.
  • Base shall incorporate three (3) off segregated cable pathway crossovers.
  • Each base shall contain a two level transverse and longitudinal grid of cableways for telecommunications and power services.
  • Cable management base shall comply with the following standards:
  • a) AS 3084 Australian Standard for Telecommunication Cable Pathways.
  • b) TS 009 Mandatory Standard for Telecommunications wiring.
  • c) ISO 11801 International Standard for Telecommunications Cabling and Cable Pathway
  • Deck panel shall be 600 x 600 x 22mm.
  • Deck panel shall be premium flooring grade particleboard - 22mm thick.
  • Deck panel shall be screen printed with cableway locations.
  • Deck panel shall be secured to base by six (6) off 10g x 45 mm coarse pitch bugle head screws.
